Welcome beautiful people! I wanted to share a very spirited conversation I had with a friend of mine about the "cucumber challenge" now I will admit that when I first heard of this I thought it was some diet related challenge (eating cucumber a number of times a day, incorporating cucumber in your eating habits etc..) but when she broke it down to me I was stunned; then just blown (pardon the pun) when she then presented social media videos of women DEEP THROATING cucumbers!! My feelings then switched from bewilderment to anger...why in the blue hell would any woman try to make a point that she knows how to deep throat??? SERIOUSLY?? what angers me is the fact that it is a man who set off this challenge and as true chicken heads, women felt the need to showcase their blow job skills.
There is a bigger issue at hand here; in spite of the Me Too movement and the light being shed on female empowerment (including a number of women running for president) we still struggle to realize that we are queens, that we birthed a nation, that we should not lower ourselves to the standard of men who have no respect for who we are and what we bring to the table as strong influential women. So where does this need to "show out" in that manner come from? is it upbringing? societal norms? I don't know what the answer is, what I do know is that watching those videos after the initial shock had me at a space of sadness and embarrassment; We are so much better then what an individual who decided to put out a challenge such as this believe us to be; more importantly, why don't we put out a challenge?? a challenge related to kindness, serving our community, ourselves in a positive light...I am good, I like my cucumber in water or in my salad! Let's get it together!
