Naturally elevating your mood: CBD, why not?

Hello Beautiful People and yes, TGIF!!! We made it through another week; kudos to you!

Let's go......

No can disagree, we are living in a time that is unprecedented; there are moments of anger, fear, and a level of anxiety that can stress even the coolest, calm, and collected individual. I have always prided myself on being relaxed and for the most part stress-free; these times have me hypersensitive and nervous of the unknown; mix that with having to help my autistic son somehow settled into this structure busting situation. Yeah, I'm feeling kinda stressed... thus my use of CBD as a mood booster.

Before I go any further, I am not a medical professional; today's blog is not to prescribe to a medicinal practice or my providing medical advice (I will leave that up to my sister, a nurse Practioner, and my brother a medical doctor for future blog posts). What I am discussing is my experience with CBD as a way to calm me down when I am feeling overwhelmed.

Ok, disclosure accomplished.

I currently use CBD oil as a way to alleviate pain in my hands due to the early onset of arthritis. It was not until recently that I discovered CBD as a mood lifter (and by mood lifter, I am not talking about getting high SMH-a BIG misconception of CBD. There are various studies that validate the use of CBD's properties at helping ease (not curing) ailments such as depression, disruptive sleeping patterns, anxiety, pain, and inflammation. CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant (same as THC from marijuana) yet it is non-psychoactive, this means it provides healing without getting you high.

While the use of cannabis has been a traditional healing practice for centuries, CBD oils have become a recent phenomenon. The body has endocannabinoid receptor sites where the CBD is at its most effective; meaning the body produces these molecules naturally, so we are harnessing and amplifying this naturally occurring mechanism of action.

CBD oil from hemp is legal in all 50 states, however not regulated outside of dispensaries so it is safest to find a trustworthy brand. Since you can find CBD almost anywhere; it is of the utmost importance to know where your CBD oil is coming from. Hemp is a "cleaner plant", it cleans the soil in which it grows by absorbing heavy metals, toxins, and pesticides, which can be passed onto you.

I have been using CBD as part of my wellness routine; I use CBD oil for:

-Drops under my tongue as a mood lifter

-As a muscle rub for areas, I experience tension such as my neck, and lately my hip area

-I have a CBD roller that I use for my wrists, my roller has a special boost with the addition of lavender, ylang-ylang, and frankincense.

-I add CBD to my warm baths with an addition of either peppermint, eucalyptus or lemongrass

I purchase CBD oil at

Well, there you have it beautiful people, my experience with CBD...

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend; we will see each other on Mindfulness Monday!
